Magnuson Children’s Garden Committee extends a warm welcome to all who would like to help us sustain the garden!
Here are 3 ways you can help:
1) Participate in one of our Garden Stewardship Events: Our stewardship events are super fun, with simple garden tasks for adults and children! We have resumed them with Covid-safe guidance and protocols from the CDC, WA State, and the WSU/Master Gardener Program. Pre-registration is required in order to attend our events. (SORRY, NO DROP-INS) Please visit our Free Events page for information on how to pre-register, or contact the Children’s Garden Volunteer Coordinator at childrensgardenvolunteering@gmail.com. Hope to see you in the garden!
2) Join the Children’s Garden Committee:
In 2001, a team of volunteers called the Magnuson Children’s Garden Committee came together to lead a series of meetings with families and kids to design the garden, then to lead community volunteers in building the garden.
Each year since then, committee members have organized monthly volunteer events to maintain the garden, add new features, and host free public events.
We are especially in need of volunteers who would like to be involved in the following areas:
• Garden and nature education for adults and families;
• Plant health care and garden design;
• E-newsletter articles and editing, and/or website development;
• Tool maintenance and garden infrastructure.
For more information, send us an email at childrensgardenvolunteering@gmail.com. Thanks!
3) Donate funds or supplies to the garden:
- We are very grateful for any amount you can donate to help fund our annual events, plant and tool replacement, maintenance of the garden infrastructure, or special projects. To make a financial contribution, visit our donation page on the SeattleParksFoundation.org website, You can also donate to the Master Gardener Foundation of King County or Magnuson Community Garden, and designate your funds for Magnuson Children’s Garden. Thanks so much!
- In-kind donations are also very much appreciated! If you have extra garden tools, gloves, plants, art supplies, or other items that you think would benefit the Children’s Garden, please contact us at magnusonchildrensgarden@gmail.com with a description of your donation, and include a photo if possible. Please do not drop anything off at the Children’s Garden without contacting us. We’ll reply right away to let you know if we can accept it, and if so, arrange a time for a Children’s Garden Committee member to pick it up or meet you at the garden for delivery. Thanks so much!
