How Can You Help?

Magnuson Children’s Garden Committee extends a warm welcome to all who would like to help us sustain the garden!

Here are 3 ways you can help:

1) Participate in one of our Garden Stewardship Events: Our stewardship events are super fun, with simple garden tasks for adults and children! We have resumed them with Covid-safe guidance and protocols from the CDC, WA State, and the WSU/Master Gardener Program.  In order for volunteers be able to social distance in the garden, pre-registration is required.  (SORRY, NO DROP-INS)   Please visit our Free Events page for information on how to pre-register, and hope to see you in the garden!

2) Join the Children’s Garden Committee:

In 2001, a team of volunteers called the Magnuson Children’s Garden Committee came together to lead a series of meetings with families and kids to design the garden, then to lead community volunteers in building the garden. Each year since then, committee members have organized monthly volunteer events to maintain the garden, add new features, and host free public events.

As the garden has grown, so has the committee, and we are currently seeking 2-3 additional members- could that be you?

We are especially in need of volunteers who would like to be involved in the following areas:

• Adult and family garden education;

• Plant health care;

• Social media, e-newsletter, and/or website development;

• Tools and infrastructure.

For more information, send us an email at magnusonchildrensgarden@gmail.com.  Thanks!

3) Donate funds or supplies to the garden:

  • In-kind donations are also very much appreciated! If you have extra garden tools, gloves, plants, art supplies, or other items that you think would benefit the Children’s Garden, please contact us at magnusonchildrensgarden@gmail.com with a description of your donation, and include a photo if possible.  Please do not drop anything off at the Children’s Garden without contacting us.  We’ll reply right away to let you know if we can accept it, and if so, arrange a time for a Children’s Garden Committee member to pick it up or meet you at the garden for delivery.  Thanks so much!
