Giving Tuesday is on Dec. 3rd- and your support will enable us to expand our food-gardening and free “snack walks”!!

December 3, 2019 - December 4, 2019

Giving Tuesday is an annual, nationwide day of giving to non-profit organizations, and we hope you’ll support Magnuson Children’s Garden with a gift of any amount!

PLUS, our fiscal sponsor the Seattle Parks Foundation will provide a bonus of $100.00 for every gift of $5.00 or more from up to 7 brand new donors to the Children’s Garden any time on December 3rd (between 12:00am and 11:59pm).  That means a $5.00 gift from a new donor can turn into $105.00! 100% of gifts from all new and repeat donors will be used to fulfill the “food gardening wish list” that kids have dreamed up:

  1. Adding a ring of new, oval-shaped steel troughs to form a “Snack House Tipi” for growing peas, beans, and other annual crops, like the purple pole beans that the happy kids in the photo above are snacking on;
  2. Removing the patch of Sumac groundcover on the north side of the Rolling Lawn, and replacing it with a great big “Blueberry Hill” berry patch;
  3. Creating a new entry on the south side of the garden, where kids and grownups can come and go through a delicious “Raspberry Tunnel”;
  4. Building a new, “Sorrel-Backed Sea-Turtle” near the raspberry tunnel and snack house by installing a round steel trough supported by 4 custom-made concrete sea turtle feet, plus a tail and a head.  This fun new feature will make future “garden wraps” (like the one below) as easy as 1-2-3 to enjoy at every visit, plus it will fulfill TWO of the kids’ wish list items:  more ocean creatures in the garden AND more food!

Black Currant and Nasturtium petals wrapped in French Sorrel is a meal fit for a queen!
