GiveBIG has been extended til May 15th! Your support will enable us to continue expanding our food-gardening areas and keep the whole garden beautiful and sustainable!

May 5 @ 12:00 am - May 15 @ 11:59 pm

GiveBIG is an annual, state-wide day of giving to non-profit organizations, and we hope you’ll consider supporting Magnuson Children’s Garden.  And we just received word that GiveBIG has been extended until May 15th!

Like so many of you, we are still figuring out our new normal in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The way we care for the garden, and how we serve families who use the garden has seen huge changes.  For the time being, we are no longer able to hold group stewardship events, nature walks, or our bimonthly family-friendly programming. Despite these limitations, we realize how essential the relief and healing is that we can all find in nature, and we are working hard to provide educational content through our website, e-newsletter, and Facebook account.  We miss being with all the families and volunteer groups each month, and we look forward to the day when we are able to see you all in the park again!

We are so grateful to have received over ten donations of $10 or more through our GiveBIG Day webpage on May 5th & 6th, which has now also enabled us to receive ten $100 “Challenge Awards” from our fiscal sponsor the Seattle Parks Foundation!  This generosity from our donors and sponsor means so much, and adds up a major impact on our mission and projects.

100% of all Children’s Garden GiveBIG Day donations received will be used to continue adding new food garden features such as the “Snack House”, “Blueberry Hill”, and “Raspberry Forest” in 2020, as well as fulfilling the rest of the “garden wish list” that kids have dreamed up over the past 3 years. Check out this map of design ideas to see the whole story!

If needed, we will also use some of the funds to hire a professional gardener during the time that we are not able to host group volunteer stewardship events, in order to keep the garden beautiful and sustainable for all visitors.  Thanks a million!
